9th Street from Keosauqua Way to Pleasant Street will be closed Saturday, January 3, 2009 beginning at 7:00 am for approximately 10 hours. This closure is necessary for crane setup. A detour will be posted using Park Street, 7th Street and High Street. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing. If there are questions, contact the City of Des Moines Traffic and Transportation Division at 283-4973.
LANE REDUCTIONS: East University Avenue from East 34th Street to East 38th Street will experience lane reductions beginning Thursday November 13, 2008 for approximately 4 weeks. This is necessary for Des Moines Public Works to make storm sewer intake repairs. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing. If there are questions, contact Public Works at 283-4950.
High Street from 10th Street to 12th Street will be closed beginning at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. The closure is expected to last approximately 5 months. This closure is necessary as part of the High Street Re-alignment project. Motorists may use 15th Street to Locust Avenue as an alternate route, and are encouraged to use caution when driving in this area and to obey all construction zone signs. The northbound lanes of the old Fleur Drive Bridge over the Raccoon River will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, May 12, 2008. This closure is part of the bridge rehabilitation project that will be ongoing until later this fall. A detour will be posted using M. L. King Jr. Parkway east to SW 16th Street. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, and should obey all construction zone signing.
